The second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 saw sixteen countries become ten in a battle to qualify for the final. Just like the first semi-final, the eventual result was very close, and also threw up a few surprises, so once again I think it’s time to dive into the numbers and find out what the scores on the doors really mean for these participating countries. Before we do, however, I would recommend you read my previous article , which was an analysis of the results of the first semi-final, if you haven’t already. For the avoidance of confusion, I will once again clarify that the results of this semi-final were determined solely by televoting in each participating country, as well as France, Germany and the United Kingdom, voting as pre-determined automatic qualifiers, and an aggregated ‘Rest of the World’ vote. Statement on the Eurovision Song Contest 2026

My coverage of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest would be incomplete without discussing some of the major controversies surrounding the contest, and particularly the issue of Israel’s participation. I hope that this statement will outline my thoughts on the matter, and justify my decision to continue my Eurovision coverage this year. Eurovision has always presented itself as an apolitical space: a celebration of music, culture and togetherness that transcends borders. Yet this claim has never fully held up to scrutiny. The Eurovision Song Contest is inherently political – not because every song carries an explicit message, but because the competition is built on nations, representation and visibility. Decisions about who participates, who hosts, which flags are displayed and which narratives are permitted are unavoidably political acts. Eurovision 2025: Grand Final Prediction

  It's the big one! After another shocking set of results in the second semi-final, we now have our final line-up. Before I discuss who I think is in with a chance of winning tonight, let's take a moment to talk about Thursday's qualifiers. Armenia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg and Malta all successfully made it through to the final, leaving Australia, Czechia, Georgia, Ireland, Montenegro and Serbia behind. That does of course mean that I only managed to predict a slightly woeful 7/10 qualifiers, as a couple of fairly safe qualifiers faltered on the night. I'd like to give particular commiserations to Czechia, who had a strong song that I thought would make it through with relative ease, but it wasn't Adonxs' strongest performance on the night, and clearly it didn't translate well enough for casual viewers.
